An essential element of our work together is the building and maintenance of good communication.
From School
A newsletter is available every fortnight on a Monday and deals with up-to-date happenings at the school. Community bodies who wish to communicate with parents should send the information to be communicated, in writing, to the school office before noon on Friday. The newsletter is distributed digitally each week to parents, via email.
Each student will be issued with a school student diary. This is to be used for communication between home and school. Should an additional diary be required throughout the year these are available for the office for a fee of $15.00.
Homework will be sent home each week and students have a week to complete it (7 days).
Formal parent/teacher interviews are held in term 1 and 3.
Formal report cards are issued term 2 and term 4
Informal reports are used if necessary
Meetings to explain the various aspects of the curriculum are held when necessary.
Parents are most welcome to organise a meeting with their child’s teacher or the Principal at any time throughout the school year. This can be arranged by phoning or emailing the class teacher or Principal.
Notes are sent with full details of special events as the need arises.
ALL NOTICES ARE SENT WITH THE ELDEST CHILD IN YOUR FAMILY AT THE SCHOOL. If you do not receive a notice please check your child’s school bag.
From Parents:
Notes or personal contact by phone are required to explain pupil absences or inability to complete homework etc in student diaries.
Personal comment is welcome at any time to let the teachers know about how parents feel about certain activities.
Relevant topics can be raised for discussion at Parents and Friends’ meetings, if put in writing for inclusion in the agenda by the Wednesday preceding the relevant meeting.
Parents are encouraged to attend the Parents and Friends Association meetings to keep in touch with events at St Joseph’s.
Parents are encouraged to sign homework and comment in writing.
If parents have a personal message to pass on to their child or child’s teacher in school hours, such messages should be sent through the administration officer at our school.
