Each class has formal Religious Education lessons throughout the school week. The school Religious Education program aims to teach essential knowledge in Catholic doctrine and practices through a planned sequential program.

PRAYER
The development of the value of prayer is an important part of educating young Christian people. This is easier to achieve when children experience prayer in the home environment as well.
Care is taken to ensure that children are encouraged and led to an appreciation and practice of prayer in such a way that they feel free to develop at their own rate and in their own particular way. Within that general aim, the school:

- teaches the formal prayers of the church
- encourages informal prayer
- provides regular prayer time each day
- gives the example of staff praying together
- ensures it prays for particular people and events
- involves pupils in planning their own liturgy for the Mass and other forms of liturgical celebrations
CAMPUS MINISTER
Sr Helen Archer, a Josephite Sister is the Campus Minister at St Joseph’s. Sr Helen works collaboratively with the Principal and APRE to provide support for the pastoral and spiritual needs of the children and families of the school. Sr Helen is also the Spiritual Advisor to the School Board.

SACRAMENTS
Parents are the first and major educators of their children in the formation of faith. The preparation of children for the Sacraments of Confirmation, Eucharist and Reconciliation is the responsibility of parents. The school continues to teach the knowledge of the sacraments through the classroom religious education curriculum. However the preparation programs are the responsibility of individual parents and are facilitated through the parish.
The approximate year levels for the reception of the sacraments are:
